July 2006
Dear Readers,
It's seems ever so
fitting that a woman named June should win my June contest, so I'm sending up
celebratory rockets for June of Newbough, IN. (Honest, the winner is picked by a
random number selection, but I thought that was pretty cool!)
But it could mean
everyone named July should enter my new contest to win another $10.00 gift
certificate, a book from my backlist and a chocolate treat. Then again, since
there aren't many people named July, maybe y'all ought to enter the contest.
This is the big
month for the national Romance Writers Conference in Atlanta. If you're in the
area, be sure to drop by to see me at the literacy signing on Wednesday, July
26, 5:30 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis. I'll also be leading a workshop on
Saturday with multi-published author Lori Wilde and Warner editor Karen
Kostolnyik: "Guerrilla Tactics to Reinvent Yourself."
Meanwhile, if you're
in Southern California, I'll be doing my workshop "Advanced Tools of the Trade"
at the Orange County Chapter on July 8th. For more information go to
www.occrwa.com
Hope you all have
safe and fun celebrations for the Fourth of July. Since my husband and I met
while playing in a community band, I'm particularly looking forward to hearing
the rousing patriotic music that we used to play together. Well, he played his
clarinet and I mostly watched the flute music go by too fast for me to play. Do
you have any idea how hard "Stars and Stripes" is for an amateur flute player?
Whew...
Still, I caught the
guy, didn't I?
Happy summer
reading.
