Make No Promises

August 2006

Dear Readers,

I'm sending along congratulations to Carrie in Fargo, North Dakota, my July contest winner. The $10 gift certificate et al is in the mail. Well, it will be as soon as I can get to the post office.

We're a bit late with news this month because of the national Romance Writers Conference in (HOT!) Atlanta, GA that happened at the end of July. It was great seeing fellow writers and fans who I only get to see once a year. I had a chance to shmooze with my editor and meet several Dorchester staff members. Kris Hohls, editor of LoveLetter magazine (a German publication similar to Romantic Times) dropped by to say hello, and I met several librarians and booksellers. Except for the heat and humidity (how did we ever manage without air conditioners?), it was a great conference.

On the good news side, the President of International Expeditions - the nature travel company that organized our trip to Chile and Patagonia - is putting Make No Promises on their recommended reading list for prospective travelers. They have more trips scheduled next year to that incredibly beautiful part of the world.

Meanwhile, it's good to be home to the cool sea breezes in Southern California.  If you're in the La Puente, CA area, drop by to say hello August 26th, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at Bearly Used Books, 123 S. First St., La Puente.  For information, call 626/968-3700.  I'll be signing copies of Make No Promises.

Happy reading.

Charlotte Maclay
